Belmont is a neighbourhood in northeast Edmonton, part of the Clareview area. It’s bordered by 3 major roads and Kennedale Ravine. People settled here in the 1880s, and the land was  subdivided in 1912. Belmont became part of Edmonton in 1961. Belmont has schools, parks, walking and biking paths, and is close to the LRT.  Belmont was known for the Belmont Drive-In Theatre, which was destroyed by a tornado in 1987. The name "Belmont" comes from French words meaning "beautiful mountain,” But, being in Edmonton, it’s more like “beautiful hill!"
